About Us
Biblioteca Brasil is an initiative based in Seattle, WA, started and run by Sofia and Ben Fonseca (high and middle schoolers). We are dedicated to connecting families to Portuguese literature. Our collection circulates by mail, with prepaid labels and easy returns. We aim to strengthen our language, culture, and community through reading.
Biblioteca Brasil began taking shape in late 2025, born from Sofia and Ben's love of reading.
They realized that there were few easily accessible options for books in Portuguese in the US.
Having grown up speaking and reading Portuguese at home, they wanted to help other Brazilian and Portuguese-speaking kids in the US have access to many different books in Portuguese, and discover more about their language and culture through literature.
